Manulife Visitors to Canada Insurance provides emergency medical coverage for people who are not enrolled in a Canadian provincial health care plan — including visitors, immigrants and permanent residents awaiting provincial coverage, work permit holders, Super Visa applicants and holders, foreign students, and Canadians returning home after a long absence. Two plans are available: Plan A for healthy travellers, and Plan B for those wishing to cover stable pre-existing conditions. Policies can be purchased for up to 365 days and are available Canada-wide through OnVoyage, a licensed insurance broker. Plans are underwritten by The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company and First North American Insurance Company (FNAIC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Manulife.

Pre-existing Conditions (Plan B)
Under Plan B, stable pre-existing conditions may be covered subject to the policy's stability definition and conditions. A pre-existing condition is not considered stable if, in the required period before the effective date of coverage, there were new symptoms, a change in medication or dosage, a new or changed treatment, or a hospital admission or pending test results related to that condition.
Plan B — Medical questionnaire: Applicants age 40 and over are required to complete a medical questionnaire to apply for Plan B. Coverage of pre-existing conditions is subject to approval based on the information provided. Applicants under 40 do not require a questionnaire for Plan B.

Claims & Emergency Assistance
Contact Manulife Travel Assistance before visiting any hospital or clinic. Failure to notify the Assistance Centre may result in reduced benefit payments. If you cannot call due to your medical condition, a relative or medical staff member must notify within 24 hours. The toll-free number appears on your insurance certificate.
